scammers.....
ok well obviously ANETs system to keep scammers at bay is not working in the slightest
they scam they get warning they scam some more get banned for a day then come back and scam some more
so heres my suggestion
first of all
make the report a scammer option a ingame option
so that we dont have to quit gw and go to ur site to simply report a scammer
and the report a scammer page is kinda complicated
second of all now heres the more important suggestion
i think that ppl that have been confirmed as scamming some 1 like being proven scammer by screenshot
i think instead of being banned for a day or what ever
they should be flagged as a scammer
like a red flag over the character
so any char on that account is flagged as scammer for a week or something
so every gw player they encounter will know they have scammed and can choose for them selves wether they wanna do dealings with them or not
since newbies wont know what the scammer flag will mean i suggest having a warning pop up when first timers open trade with a flagged player
i think that the amount of scammers would really drop if this was put into gw
it would be kinda hard for a scammer to scam if hes been flagged
like some 1 doin runs to droks is flagged the chances of ppl taking that runner r slim
any feedback on this idea?

K....they have to do something about scammers......but putting a flag on someones head after they scammed someone would be shite.....people could report someone for the fun of it becuse they dont like the person etc. It would be better if they put some extra options in the trade window so everything is double checked.....like when u sell something for lets say 20k.....that the one selling the item has to type the amount they agreed on first and if the amounts are not the same the trade wont take place...or something els...there are many ways to do something about it..... and about time to coz it happens way to often.

The reason they won’t do that is because they feel it would be abused. They suggest you take screen shots, and write down the time and other information and report them on the main guild war site.

everything that ANet suggests is bound to be open for abuse. this "red flag" idea could possibly abused by idiots who think it's funny that someone has a red flag over their head.
the best solution is to report it at www.guildwars.com/support .
and remember: THE TRADE WINDOW IS ALWAYS RIGHT. always keep an eye on the item that is being offered, or the amount of money that is being offered.
ALWAYS. watch the window vigilantly, and you will never fall victim to a scam. unless you slip up. but that's unlikely.

Well, this idea though credible becomes very impractical...
Example 1:
Person 1: WTB IDS, 15k
Person 2: WTS IDS, 15k...
So the two arrange a meeting and than exchange items... person 1 than scoots off to another district...
Person 1: WTS IDS, 20k
Person 2 sees them and reports them for scamming...?
Example 2 (I was guilty of this)
Me: WTS Victo's Axe, 100
Person 1: Dude, I'll buy it!
Person 2-37: I'll buy it.
Person 38: You forgot to say 100k
Person 39-60: I'll buy it.
Run over to person 1 to avoid the mob, and pop it into trade... he proceeds to offer 100 gp. I correct him, telling him 100k. He tells me that I'm scamming him, because I didn't say 100k in the post. Sold to person 2. Person 1, iggied. Was I scamming him?
Example 3 (I'm also guilty of this)
Me: WTS: Hale Shadow Staff of Inspiration, recharge Fire 11%, casting speed Fire 13%, +26 Health, 13% +1 Inspiration Magic, 10k
A Level 13 E/Me comes up to me... opens a trade window... and has 3k plus a couple of items. One of the items is a 10/10 Sundering Sword, like 13-16 damage. He asks to trade. Now, being somewhat conscientious of new players, I told him that the 10/10 upgrade was worth more than my staff. He said that it didn't matter, he wasn't going to use it. So I traded the staff for 3k and couple of items... Alls well that ends well... I salvaged the sword and got the upgrade. 15 minutes later he PMs me in game and demands the sword back saying I scammed him and he wanted his items back or he would report me.
Example 4
Just failed to finish Thunderhead because my enchantments don't hold when the tank rushes off the map.
Tank: U N00B!!! @!#% your mother's dog's cousin's sister's owner's nephew...
Me: Whatever... bye bye now.
Tank: I'm reporting you for scamming.
These scenarios make it very scary if ANet would make reporting scams a quick in game process... how many real scammers would than get by as the manpower to investigate reports is stretched thin.

do it like they have it in runescape.
there's a report abuse feature where you type in the person's name and then select one of the rules broken. it then saves the last 60 seconds of game from your character. if you misuse the report, you will get action taken against you. if you publicly announce that you are reporting someone for something totally rediculous, then there's also a rule for misuse of customer support....
you cannot report someone who hasn't talked or traded in the last 60 seconds.

It seems that most people have different meaning about the word scamming.
Ofcourse Bonds dont hold up outside your radar range. If hes a tank he must know that. If he doesnt he just the noob and you are no scammer. Most people dont seem to know that it has range. TELL THEM PLZZZ.
And the claming items back thats just stupid him/her. You told all the things about the sword. Dont bother talking to those people.
The trading system is also bugged. I told Gaile and Anet but they just dont lissen. I have given up reporting. they dont seem to lissen at all.

I don't really see it as a problem.. I've never been scammed in any mmo ive ever played. You can recognize a scam or scammer if you look hard enough. Just don't trust shady people

scamming is a problem - but if you read argen's examples - things like that would really screw you over.
My best advice is that if you get scammed, try reporting them the way things are now and just deal with it. It's life.
